Day 1: Fly from Zanzibar or Dar es Salaam to Ruaha National Park

Your adventure begins with an early morning flight from either Zanzibar or Dar es Salaam, soaring over the scenic landscapes of southern Tanzania before descending into the heart of one of the continent’s most majestic wildernesses of Ruaha National Park. Touch down at the Msembe Airstrip, where you’ll be welcomed by your expert walking guide and private camp crew. From here, you’ll leave the vehicle behind and begin your journey off-grid, venturing straight into the bush as you make your way to a remote and comfortable walking safari camp nestled deep within the park. Spend your first evening immersed in nature, settling in around the campfire under a sky ablaze with stars, the perfect introduction to your walking safari experience.

Over the next two days, you’ll explore Ruaha on foot, in the way safari was originally intended: slow, silent, and deeply connected to nature. Guided by seasoned naturalists and accompanied by an armed ranger, your route is designed to traverse a variety of ecosystems from dry riverbeds and baobab forests to savannah plains and rocky outcrops. This is one of Africa’s largest and most untouched national parks, and walking here is both thrilling and meditative.
