Day 1: Arrival JRO - Transfer Legendary Lodge

Your private transfer will meet you upon arrival and escort you to the comforts of your stunning accommodations set at the base of Mount Meru, for an impressive view of Kilimanjaro’s great peak looming over the horizon. You will check in at the Legendary Lodge – a Peaceful and luxurious location on a working coffee farm on the outskirts of Arusha.

Set in lush tropical gardens on a working coffee farm just outside Arusha, Legendary Lodge features ten beautiful garden cottages and two family cottages, each with its own private veranda. Designed with a unique blend of African arts and crafts, combined with old, colonial-style luxury, the cottages offer king sized beds, a separate lounge with fireplace and ensuite bathrooms with deep tubs and refreshing showers.

Mouth-watering gourmet meals are served in the gracious environment of the main house, surrounded by a lush tropical garden. Meals can be taken in the more formal dining room, or on the open air veranda. The Spa at Legendary Lodge offers rejuvenating treatments in the elegant therapy room or in the privacy of the guest cottages. A selection of fascinating coffee farm tours, shopping expeditions and interesting day tours are available at the lodge.

After breakfast, you will be picked up by your safari guide and transfer by road to Tarangire National Park. Upon arrival you will check in at the luxurious Nimali Tarangire. Nimali Tarangire is a permanent, lodge-style tented camp that opened in 2015 on the north-eastern boundary of Tarangire National Park. Built on a private concession, it is located on the pretty banks of a seasonal river in the Radilen Wildlife Management Area. The lodge is situated alongside the riverbed and well hidden amongst the acacia & baobab trees. Natural materials are merged with contemporary decor, to provide guests with a unique and unforgettable bush experience. The main areas comprise of a spacious lounge, library and a central dining area that overlooks the swimming pool and a waterhole that attracts wildlife. Selections of safari books are available for guests to read. Every evening, guests are able to relax in the lounge and have sundowners by the fireplace.

Boasting sweeping golden pastures and Tanzania’s biggest elephant population, Tarangire National Park is a wilderness paradise you will enter after privately transferring from Arusha Airport. After you arrive at the park, settlements will give way for nature, and emerald landscapes speckled with diverse flora and fauna will unroll beyond you towards the horizon. Tarangire National Park features sun-kissed granite mountains, sparkling river valleys, prolific bushveld, and free-roaming wildlife you will behold from the moment you touch down in Tanzania and transfer to your decadent suite overlooking the park’s boundless wilds.

After breakfast, you will transfer to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. On arrival you will be assisted and check in at Lake Ndutu Luxury Tented Lodge. Tucked in an acacia forest with views across a lake-filled valley, Lake Ndutu Tented Lodge gives you a gorgeous foothold in Tanzania’s Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a top safari destination. The Lodge is popular for its refined service and handsome facilities, but principally for its location near the Great Migration action. Here, hundreds of thousands of wildebeest, zebra and antelope pause on their journey to graze and calve, followed by eager predators. There are 20 tents, so the Lodge may not offer the intimacy of smaller outfits. But it’s extremely comfortable and welcoming, and the sightings are out of this world.

Northern Tanzania’s Ngorongoro Conservation Area boasts the country’s greenest highlands and looming volcanic craters. The nutrient-rich environments are teeming with wildlife, from pink flamingos that gather in nearby lakes to hippos that rest in the water, lions that lie amongst the shrubbery, and giraffes that pluck the thorny acacias. An afternoon safari drive from your lodge will share these animal sightings as well as visions of the illustrious landscape encompassed by the protected area.

Leaving the Ngorongoro Crater, today you will head out to central Serengeti national Park, On arrival you will be assisted with check in at the luxurious Nimali Central Serengeti Camp. Nimali Central Serengeti is a tented camp elegantly and comfortably furnished with all the necessary luxuries of a wild yet classic safari. The camp is located in the heart of the Serengeti close to Makoma Hill, offering utter seclusion and great access to the annual migration and the ‘Big 5’. Makoma hill is best known for large herds of Buffalo, Giraffe, Elephants & Predators such as Lions, Cheetahs and Hyenas. It is a good area for game viewing all year around.

While you may recall the events in the popular Lion King film, no words or visual imagery could capture the true majesty of such a phenomenon, a highlight you will share for years to come.

Meals & Overnight: Nimali Serengeti | FB

After breakfast, transfer to the nearest airstrip for your scheduled flight to Ruaha. Your guide will meet you and en route to camp enjoy a game drive through this very different park. Spend your last two nights at Jabali Ridge. This beautiful retreat is built in and around the boulders and overlooks a baobab forest. The main areas include an infinity pool, spa and plenty of decks, seating areas and dining locations, meaning time spent in camp is as enjoyable as being on safari activities.

Morning walking safaris taking in the sounds of bird calls, looking for tracks and signs in the earth, and encountering smaller creatures. Returning to the camp to rest and relax, enjoying lunch and some pool time before afternoon game drives to explore further afield. Ruaha’s varied terrain is home to a wide variety of wildlife including large herds of buffalo, hippo, more unusual antelope species such as sable and lesser kudu, and – if you are really lucky – wild dog, which roam huge distances each day in search of their next meal, making sightings impossible to predict.

Remote Ruaha encapsulates the dreamy feelings of adventure this vacation is all about. The wilderness remains completely untouched, and you can easily go a full day of safari without seeing a single other vehicles. This sublimity is enhanced by little romantic touches. Share cocktails as Tanzania’s largest elephant population roam beneath your balcony. Grab your partner’s hand and walk through a rugged plain of baobab trees. Unwind beneath the stars as a lions roar and hippo grunt from the Great Ruaha River.
